autocapitalize first letter in every line

autocpitalize first letter in every line is currently not happening in latest version of libreoffice writer. how to solve it?

Hello @debranjandatta,

Do you really mean every line, or did you mean every sentence ?

Is this feature used for creating poems? If yes, so provide each line as paragraph (hit enter key at the end of each line).

Later work on FIND & REPLACE dialog:

Select REGULAR EXPRSSIONS

SEARCH FOR / SEARCH ALL ^. (every first letter of a line is selected)

Then format (menu Format > Text :: UPPERCASE)

Does not work for: punctuation and other. - Cheers

PS: I have never heard of “autocapitalize” every line. See librebel’s comment as well.

I just tried Word 2003 -for windows, and it will capitalize the first word of every line, with our without periods ending the lines. If there is a carriage return to end the line, the first word of the next line will be capitalized once the space bar is pressed after typing the first word of the line. Writer does not do that, but your search and replace shown above alleviates the problem.

Maybe I can figure out how to write a macro to do it. It would be easy for me in Word, but not in Writer.
