Why doesn't the formatting commands in a sylk file work when importing into calc?

I want to create an output file from my accounts software for an order form. I can create a sylk file but I would like to put rows that the customer has previously ordered in a colour or bold. I have tried several examples but the import doesn't seem to want to execute any commands allowed with the sylk format.

Any ideas?

Thanks Ian
