"Synchronize Labels" doesn't work on Fontworks

I am preparing labels using an Avery template in Writer, OpenSUSE Linux 42.2. There is text, an image and a Fontworks items. When I select "Synchronize Labels", the Fontworks items on the "master" label do not appear on the other labels.

I know that Fontworks has a lot of idiosyncrasies, but is this normal? If not, how do I make it work?

Anchor "as character". works on another case where I was using an image with a text box rotated 90°, but when I try with the label with the Fontworks items, everything moves or disappears (and "Undo" doesn't restore to the original configuration - this needs to be fixed, too). The work-around I finally used was to do the Fontworks in Draw and add the bitmap image there. Then I exported the Draw document as jpeg at 200dpi, used Gimp to crop to the part that I wanted, and then put the whole on the label as a bitmap. A bit of a bother but it worked.
