Sometimes when I paste text into a single cell (ctrl+V or ctrl+shift+alt+V) it gets pasted to the wrong cell: the next cell from the next column. It happens absolutely randomly and with no particular reason, imho.

Why does it happen?

How can I prevent it from happening?

Are you sure, there is nothing before the text?, can you give a web place or a sample file, where to copy for test?

That can happen with Shift+Ctrl+Alt+V when pasting onto a cell if the pasted data contains a leading tab character, because in that Unformatted Data Paste the tab character acts as a column separator (Tab Separated Values, TSV), similar to the comma in Comma Separated Values (CSV). If you want to paste all data into one cell then place the cell into edit mode (F2) before pasting.
