Stop sending update notices or give some idea of what new version does

I like Libreoffice. I use Libreoffice. It does everything I need. I used to get occasional update notices but suddenly they have become constant - every time I do some particular operation I get an overlay update notice. I was busy and kept killing them and now I don’t remember.

The problem? Almost every time developers put out a new version there is some “improvement” in the most used part of the user interface. Google just did it. I can’t figure out how to get to bookmarks without two clicks, whereas it used to be across the top menu. My wife just upgraded her iPad and now it is hung and she has to take it to their local shop.

Now the problem is that, besides having to learn the new placement and use of some of the most basic functions, some are probably omitted or hard to reach.
Example MS Dos. For the first 20? years in Dos and then windows, you could just say DIR and get a directory of a folder and print it out if you desired. However sometime recently the DOS function ended. Of course there is a messy work around and free software available that is “easy to use”.

Get the idea?
Now, can I persuade you to stop sending update notices every day or two, or, now, constantly while I use Calc?
Or else, put out a notice about what changes have been made to the most basic capabilities - function and/or location on the screen.?

And by the way, this box does not scroll, and it took me several minutes to fill in stuff to be able to send this message.
If you can understand this message and give a coherent reply I will donate $100. (Funny dollar sign!)

Did you try with Tools → Options → LibreOffice → Online Update and then uncheck “check for updates automatically”?

BTW, unless you have a great appetite for spam maybe it’s a good idea to delete your email address…

Thanks. John
