LibreOffice and OS X 10.3.3

I installed Libreoffice recently. I have an automator script that quits all applications. After libre was installed, this script came up with a directory box (where I could locate a file) and asked: Where is soffice ? I directed it to the libreoffice app in my applications folder and that seemed to do the trick, but what is soffice and how was I supposed to know this?

Does soffice in this case = libreoffice app?

If you use some kind of automation script, then it’s strange to ask “and how was I supposed to know this?”. Yes, soffice is the name of LibreOffice binary, having its history from StarOffice roots. While changing it to something different seems difficult for multiple reasons, usually users don’t need to think about that; and when one uses advanced techniques like in your case, then knowing that is up to you
