Printer= Canon PX922 with duplexer, so alternate left/right pages must be aligned

What module: Writer? Calc? Try exporting your document as PDF and then print that PDF, might give you more options.

Select the correct paper size in the settings of you printer. Then enable option "Use only paper size from printer preferences" in the tab Options of the printing dialog. That should automatically center the content in the middle of the sheet of paper.

In case your printer driver doesn't offer the possibility to center a smaller image in the stationery paper, here's a workaround for Writer.

Open the applied page styles for modification, tab Page. Note the difference between your custom paper size and the physical paper in the printer tray. Add half the width difference to left and right margins for portrait orientation, top and bottom for landscape. Depending on how you trim the full document ream afterwards, you can also transfer part of the difference for height into top and bottom portrait margins (resp. left and right for landscape), but you'd better experiment if you mix portrait and landscape.

A similar trick should work in Calc and it is easier since, to my knowledge, there is a single page format.

a single page format - err... I am not sure I understand you correctly, but in Calc, any sheet can have its own page format.

@Mike Kaganski: single page format ... per sheet, no fancy change like in Writer where you can alternate page styles on every page. Sorry for the shortened remark.
