How can I permanently change the default font in Writer 6

I’d like the simplist way to do this! I hate Liberation Serif!

Did going to Preferences > LibreOffice Writer > Basic Fonts and changing these not work?

Not sure where to find preferences in 6.

In Windows: Tools>Options

It would really be helpful, for yourself and others, if you read the LibreOffice documentation and help files to familiarize yourself with basic functionality.

Writer documents are governed by templates. If you change the underlying template, all documents based on it will reflect the changes. Go to File / Templates / Manage templates. Right-click your Default template and set it up, including paragraph styles, the way you want. Save it. From now on these changes will be persistent.

On existing documents, you can update the Styles upon opening, or Styles menu / Load styles to import the styles of the template you just modified.

Unfortunately it told me I could not edit the default template. However I could set another template as my default so I set “modern” as my default. Thanks for explaining the template thing! Never knew!
