I do not need all the MS Office programs what is the best version for someone who uses only Word and excel

There is no packages with different sets of applications provided by TDF. All are included. And trying to avoid some components is actually useless, because different LibreOffice modules use each other to provide full functionality. Draw is the basis of all drawing capabilities of other modules, like Writer and Calc. Components of Base are used in Writer’s connections to data sources (used e.g. in MailMerge).
