I signed up for a year's subscription to Microsoft Office 2016 via 365. I did not like it and let the subscription lapse. In consequence I can no longer access my Office files -- even though they were on Office 2008 and Office 2016 that I paid for!

SOmeone in the forum at Microsoft suggested getting this programm.

My question is: how can I be sure it can find and convert those fies?

THanks for any info.

Libreoffice can open files made with recent versions of MSO, you can expect some differences in formatting if your files are complex,, and Libre doesn't support some new MSO features. It will have trouble with versions before 97 or so, but that wouldn't be a problem for you. Download and install it, then open your files and check whether the conversion is good enough for you.
