LO Calc 6.0.3.2 saves one file very slow that saved fine on 5.2.4.2

Moving from LO 5.2.4.2 to 6.0.3.2 loading and saving calc files seem a second or two slower. BUT the real problem is my most important calc file now takes 24 to 31 seconds to save. This includes AutoRecovery information and manual save. This file also takes 6 seconds to load. Longer than anyone of my other calc files.
It is 8 sheets, 280 kb with charts. It is password protected. I have bigger files that seem as complex, 3.6 mb 19 sheets and more charts that load and save under 2 seconds.
I have turned off password, restarted in safe mode and deleted individual sheets without success.
If this is a bug I will submit a bug report. Hopefully someone has an idea of something I could try first.

Please can you attach the file depersonalized to test?

I had the same problem with writer (default Ubuntu 18.04, v6.0.3? install) – taking 21 seconds to save a 100 page file.

I purged Libroffice and installed via the 5.4.7 deb and it is now loading and saving the same file ~1.5 to 2 seconds.

The same lengthy delay occurred when I did an “Update All”, to update indexing, etc (many cross references) but now, with 5.4.7 < 1 second. Basically, v6 is unusable for me.

I have work to do, so will have to look at bug reporting some other time

Without a sample file to test it’s difficult to find the issue.

Tested with Writer guide, 457 pages no issue for me with 6.0.4.2

On a slower backup laptop with 6.0.3 (Ubuntu 18.04), Writer guide opens as one might expect of a large file. After updating, saving takes around 10 seconds, which is reasonable for that size file.

However, saving my 100 page file is around the 35 seconds. Something is incompatible. The question is what. I don’t have time to delve into this, and the file is confidential company stuff so can’t upload for analysis

Please verify if there are heavy images in the file, use the navigator [F5] to see what objects are in.

Tried via snap v6.04.2 - same problem

Solution (for me) was to start a new document (don’t know if this will work for Calc) then select all (from problem-document), copy and paste into the new document.

Some styles needed to be re-asserted, but all now working as per previous. Performance now as one would expect.

Details of document: 100 footnotes, 32 images, 5 tables, 100+ bookmarks, 100+ cross-references, Index, TOC, footers with image, page-number field, cross-reference field.

Just reinstalled Libreoffice via repositories (Ubuntu 18.04, v6.0.3.2) document now loads, updates and saves fast - it seems faster than 5.4.7. Prefer standard repository package rather than snap version.
