How do I delete non existent files

I have several files which have a little x on them and when I try to remove them it say the file is non existent. How do I remove them from Libre Office. I think I started a document and maybe didnt finish it or closed the computer w ithout saving

Where do you see thes files and “the x on them”?
By what means, exactly, did you try to delete them / the visual objects faking non-existent files?
What was, exctly, the message you got then?
Your OperatingSystem?
Your version of LibO?

If you are talking of the recent-files-panel shown when LibO got started without opening a file, the likely reason for getting thumbnails answering “… does not exist” if you click on, is that a documents file was actually deleted or moved to a different location using the file manager of your OperatingSystem.
To get rid of these thumbnails do not click into the area just somewhere, but on the “X” top-right.
You should consider whether the file actually still exists and was moved. In this case you might better first search for the file with your filemanager, and consciously decide wheter or not you want to delete it. Having decide to keep it, you may open it for just a moment to create a new thumbnail / entry to the recent-files-list in LibO. You may delete the obsolete one subsequentzly then.
