This problem has persisted for years. I see other people have had problems, and it just doesn't get solved. Yes, I have checked/unchecked the OpenGL setting, and it's still a mess whenever I try to edit any cell that already has text in it.

This has been on different computers - Macs, Linux, etc and on new and old machines.

Any permanent solution is appreciated.

I have tried OpenOffice and it does not have any of those problems, but I prefer LibreOffice for obvious reasons.

This is an example:

Sorry, but for a problem that has "persisted for years", I have never seen it, in Linux XFCE or Win XP/7/10 (can't say about Mac). So to clarify, three questions:

(1) Blurry only when the cell is in Edit mode, otherwise not blurry?

(2) Do you keep the Formula bar visible? - if so, is the text in both the cell and the Formula bar blurry at the same time? - and, again, not blurry in both places when not editing?

(3) What fonts or font types exhibit this problematic behavior?

I've edited my original post with a screenshot example. It occurs with all fonts. It is only when the cell is in edit mode AND when I'm inputting new text over old text.

Anyone have any ideas?
