L.O. is uninstalled from PC whenever SKYPE updates. Why?

L.O. 5.4 running on PC, Win 7 Pro. PC also has SKYPE on it. Every time SKYPE updates with new version, L.O. is uninstalled from PC. Has anyone experienced something like this? SKYPE Help isn’t much help. :frowning: Very frustrating. L.O. the best. I recommend it often to others.
Thanks in advance

Never happened on my computer with Windows and Skype. Better make sure that you got Skype and LibreOffice from legitimate download sites and scan your computer for malware.

Thanks. Skype and LibreOffice are both legitimate. Also, no malware found.
???

Something must be very much wrong on your computer if installing one app removes another app and nobody can confirm that behaviour.

Microsoft has a long history of hostility against free software and free document formats. Windows and Skype contain proprietary back doors that allow Microsoft to remotely control your computer, and in this case it appears they’re bullying you by deleting LibreOffice at every Skype update.

The best solution is to use a free operating system without back doors.

An alternative temporary workaround (that I haven’t tested) could be to install LibreOffice in a different way, for example using a package manager, or just use a portable version.

Thanks a lot for using LibreOffice and thank you recommending it to others, too!

I like the conspiracy theory, thought of it too. But that would be highly illegal, obvious, so not too probable. Also, if true, surly many more folks would be suffering from it, too. I seem to be the only one. Don’t want to try the offered options, thanks. Anyone else? BTW, same identical setup on my laptop, and it doesn’t happen on the laptop.
Any other thoughts?

Yes, obviously I’m just guessing as I don’t have a machine with Windows on it.

However, when Microsoft pushed the Windows 10 upgrades, I got many requests for help. In some cases Firefox and Thunderbird had been uninstalled without warning during the upgrade, and the settings were removed, leading to lost emails, so I had to run testdisk to recover them. I think Windows even generated a little report of uninstalled apps and put on the desktop.

Just to say that it’s not off limits for MS to delete competing products during an update.

Anyways, have you tried the other install methods for LibreOffice then?

I was going to suggest filing a bug in the Skype bug tracker, but turns out there is none.
