LibreOffice opens WordPerfect files, but will it open them on Mac?

I have lots of .wpd files I can't open on my Mac that need to be converted to either .docx or .rtf.

And not interested in installing Parallels or a similar Windows shell on the Mac.

I did. Related questions were addressed - e.g., it seemed clear the files could be opened in Windows but whether this is true on a Mac wasn't mentioned.

We would not normally distinguish between the data functions supported on Linux, windows or even a mac. The look, of course will be different, as the ease of switching languages.
