Thanks for your suggestion(s)...what version recommended for light usage, for primarily word & excel docs..

you will be have some problem if you will be work only with MS Office documents in LibreOffice. Some functions in Calc have different arguments or behavior than in Excel. There are else problem with import/export of complicated word documents.

I've used LO writer for, for example, school assignments that required .DOCX. Never had a problem. Didn't push it into programming Basic macros, but unless you go to the ends of the earth, it's fine as is.

It's Libreoffice 6.0.6, the newest version of libreoffice.
