I'm trying to make a poster in Draw with newspaper-style columns, and would like to add images as part of a text box, so that the text will realign itself around the image as necessary. How do you go about this? I can't find any simple ways of doing it, any attempt to add an image results in a separate object that can't easily be aligned with the text. Thanks

I think you will find it easier to achieve what you want in Writer. Draw is for drawings rather than performing desktop publishing types of work (where content has more complex associations such as wrapping). You could certainly draft a poster with text and graphic elements in Draw, but the text-handling capabilities of Draw are simple by comparison with Writer.
