Libre Office, version It can take over 30 seconds for my page to appear. Also "Not Responding" appears quite a lot.

Any solutions please?

Nearly all of my programs have been converted from Excel 2010. I usually choose Office 2003 when I save.

Older programs are much quicker to open. Perhaps this is because it is the umpteenth time that I've used Libre Office this morning?

As far as I know, there are no embedded fonts. (Don't even know what they are!)

It isn't just Libre Office. Chrome takes 30seconds to display.

Chrome? What content do you look? Format of file?

Have you embedded the fonts in the docment? I sometimes do this when using Writer and the ultimate aim is a PDF document, but it usually makes the .odt file slow to open. The obvious solution is to embed the fonts before saving and exporting to PDF, then remove embedding before saving my working file. This is tedious but it seems to get the job done.

I also have the impression that text copied from websites sometimes brings with it unseen scripts etc which slow up opening. I get round this by pasting unformatted text, though that sometimes means a lot of editing is needed for headings etc.

If one of our technical experts can direct us to a plain language explanation of what is going on I hope they will do so.
