xls file opens as blank file in Libre Office

xls file generated by SageOne financials system opens perfectly in excel but in Libre office the file opens blank with no data.

What I have managed to identify is that although the extension on the file is .xls it is actually in .htm format. Excel picks that up automatically and does what it does opening the file perfectly but Libre doesn’t.

If I open the file in excel and save it as an xls it opens perfectly in Libre thereafter. Unfortunately that is not at all convenient as not only me running these reports.

I have gone through all the ideas floated on forums and non have worked.

I could submit a sample file.

Can anyone suggest a fix?

Thanks in advance

I read 11 words of your question (before the word “but”) and I want to know - why do you ask here, but not in SageOne? I’m just curious

because excel opens the file no problem

So, maybe ask Microsoft how her to do this? OK, which operating system do you use? And yes, if you can please submit a sample file

Try HTML query output for file type.

Or test selecting the file type for open as HTML calc.

Hi

Thanks for the comment m.a. riosv. Changed the extension to .htm and it opened with all the information.

Attached is a sample file.

ItemValuationReport.xls

It can’t be the original problematic file: it is a proper xls file, which opens fine in LibreOffice…
