LibreOffice Calc file on desktop moves when saved

hello, i have kind of a strange problem here. when i save my Calc document, the actual file on my desktop moves to another location on the desktop. it’s not really causing me any problems but i’m not sure why this happens lol

thanks

edit: well, just tested it with Writer docs, same thing happens, i just it’s just a LO problem for me. the file gets pushed up to the next open spot on the desktop;\
edit2: is it something to do with the temporary files that get generated when you open a doc?

Which OS do you have in operation?

Win 10 Home 64b

Right-click on the desktop to get a menu. A selection is called “Sort by”. According to what is set there, will be sorted accordingly.

This actually is a relevant question. This is tdf#119238, and it was a larger problem than just moving icon over desktop: the file creation time was modified, too. That is sometimes critical. I have fixed that yesterday. It will be in the next 6.1 micro release.

OK, sorry.

ohh okay, thanks for addressing it and keep up the work:)

hello, has this problem been fixed? i’ve been through a couple of updates and still seems to be a thing:(

@timoseewho: the bug I mentioned was fixed, and the poster of the bug didn’t complain - so either the fix was not complete (and OP simply didn’t bother to reply back), or you are talking about a different problem - in which case, you better file a new report.

actually, it’s a similar, but different issue, the temporary .xls# file generated moves around when i save my Calc file

Huh. We never did anything to keep temporary files’ identity over saves; and I don’t think we will.

The file moving around to the next open spot on the desktop is back with update to version 6.1.6.3

I just dropped Open Office this week for Libre and find this problem, as well. I’m following this thread.

I’m following this thread

You are following - what??? 0_o Wow. This is a comments section to a question that has been asked about an older version; it turned out to be a bug - and it was filed to bug tracker, were it was fixed. Nothing to be done here.

But if you have a similar problem in a newer version, do you people really believe that “following” comments to an answer in a user-to-user help site would ultimately help you??? Only filing bug reports to bug tracker allows to inform developers what you see, and how to reproduce, and - then to try to fix.
