FORMAt for sum function

i have done the sum function with too many other spreadsheets and cannot remember hos to do inLO

The help files are often very helpful.

One method is to type in the cell where you want the answer “=SUM(” but without the quotation marks, then with your cursor highlight the column of figures you want summed, then hit Enter. Le voila!

It’s difficult when this is so different from Excel in summing and yet so similar in most other functions.

Well, there are four different ways to sum a column in LibreOffice that I know of. Perhaps one or several of them are similar to Excel. (I don’t have Excel to experiment with.) One that seems to be popular is to highlight the column of figures then to click on the Sum command in the toolbar (letter sigma) and the sum appears in the next empty cell of that column; perhaps that is the method you are thinking of.
