Display hidden text when a title is clicked?

In Writer, is there a way to hide/minimize a paragraph, and then have it appear after the paragraph’s title is clicked?

I don’t think this is possible in Writer. Such features don’t work that well on paper. Footnotes/sidenotes is the thing used for this exact purpose. See Insert → Footnote or Endnote

@mahfiaz - What do you mean with “sidenotes”?

@ROSt53, sidenotes is something that Writer doesn’t do automatically. Let’s say you have 4 cm margin on the right, then you have 3 cm to add some notes, usually in smaller font. Just an alternative to footnotes.

@mahfiaz - I created a 4 cm margin on the right side but how can I write right of the right margin? What do I still have to do? This side note could be a great possibility to place comments until the normal comments can be printed at the right side instead of at the next page.

@ROSt53 - I replied in a new question instead: How to create sidenotes using Writer?

@mahfiaz - good idea to make new question!

Presumably the feature being referred to is the ability to “collapse or expand parts of a document” via a graphic indicator adjacent to a heading as can be done in MS Word 2013. This is not the same thing as collapsing / expanding a heading when in outline view, which both MS Word and LO Writer offer. The former is purely a show/hide function in the text, while the latter is a management facility including promotion/demotion, nesting, moving, etc.

The former feature (a.k.a. “code folding”) is not currently available in Writer. The related enhancement request is fdo#47746. There is also an earlier question that provides a fairly extensive set of comparisons and examples.

I guess it must be possible to build a similar behaviour with a field as indicator that will change a variable that will in turn make the paragraph visible or hidden. If this is tecnically possible, an extension could be done to make the process easier. In any case, it would not be very “native” and clean feature… But just in case…

@wordescue - What exactly do want to have? Are you thinking about MS Word feature where, in the outline view, only the first 2 - 3 lines of heading can be made visible and the rest hidden?

Technically it is possible if you use panels to wrap the title. Create panel (Insert → Panel) and type your title text into it. Now select panel and open it’s properties, open “Macro” tab. There you can assign a macro to “Click on object”. I will leave writing that macro to you
