Need to insert cell data into a text box

Hi All,
Calc 6.1.3.2

I have a graph I need to place a text box into and into that text box I need to insert the value from a cell.

Google gives me
Reference Cell values in TextBox

Problem. Step 4

Open the Context menu on the TextBox, and Select “Control…” menu (4th option, with spanner icon)

I right click on the test box, no such animal. No spanner icon either

How do I put cell data in a text box on a graph?

Many thanks,
-T

There are two types of “text box.” #1 is a floating frame where you can insert formatted text, paragraphs, images, and so on - found under “Insert → Text Box”. #2 is a form control where you can input/output text data. #1 will not have the “control” option when you right-click on it. #2 does have the option. Each “text box” has very different purposes. I don’t think you can insert a chart into the #2 (maybe not #1 either, not sure). #2 text box can have text inserted via macros from cell(s).

Since charts are already floating objects that you can move around in Calc, maybe there’s not a need to put it into a “text box”? If you right-click on the chart and choose Anchor → To Page, you can drag it around freely.

I need to write dynamic information on the chart

cool, gotcha

Yes, now it looks a little different - in six years the location of the elements and their icons have changed, this is somewhat confusing. In the instruction to which you refer, these interface elements are mentioned (the numbers indicate the instruction points in which the element is named)

The complete process of inserting fields into the diagram looks like this:

I guess at this point I need to say what I am trying to do. I have a graph that takes its values from a spreadsheet to its left. On the sheet to the left are two cells with the date and the number of the data set. I need both of these to print out in the upper left of the graph

Yes, I understand your difficulty. I edited my answer

Wow! Awesome! Thank you!

Any way to do “some comment B2”

Sorry, I did not understand. Are you interested in what B2 is? This is the address of the cell in which the “data number” is located. Or did you mean something else?

Wow! Awesome. Thank you!

Should I be able to draw a text box inside the upper left of the chart (where no data will ever appear)?

I want to put " blah blah blah " into the text box. I can always to two boxes

I had the sheet locked and forgot to unlock it.

The test box is not on the chart, it is just over it.

It DOES NOT export.

LO need to have dynamic fields and titles on charts!!!
