Why is font size in percent, not points?

I am setting up a new template (LO 6.1.4) with paragraph styles for my projects. I can change many of the one in current default, but when I try to change Heading 1 the font is listed as proportional, i.e. 125% rather than points, which is what I want. But I have checked all available options and there does not seem to be any way to change from percent to points.

Any help?

That’s a feature of linked paragraph styles. It allows you to change the font size for the parent font only, and all linked styles will automatically adjust. Enter “16 pt” to set an absolute size of 16 pt. Note that you need to add the size type, pt, cm or whatever to ovverride the selected type.

See Working with paragraph styles - Apache OpenOffice Wiki for more infirmation on paragraph styles.

Yes, I understanding the linked paragraph styles I use in Mellel, Nisus Writer, and had in MS Word.

Thanks for the hint about entering the pt after the number.

Where it says 130% immediately below the heading “Size”, just type in your desired point size like this: 16pt, and the setting will change to point size instead of percentage.

Thank you. I have used many word processors and page layout programs for Mac since 1990. This is the only one I have come across. Appreciate the quick help.
