In my attempts to do the above, It will not fill the primary key. When I created the table I selected it to auto. When I copy the data accross all the other field populate except that one. I am following this guys tut on youtube

That is a very old version. Why not upgrade to a newer one? Didn’t watch the video since they can be outdated and to me a waste of time. In testing in Linux 18.3 using LO version 6.1.4.2 there was no problem in the primary key being populated.
Please provide all the steps you are using.

I have base open and a calc open . In the calc I hold the mouse down on the page at the bottom and drag it into the base, where it asks some questions about data and setting the primary key then creates the table. It is possible that this method come from another of his vids.
That is essentially the same process. Again I DON’T deal with videos. They are outdated quickly and can be confusing depending on the OS.
The danger with dragging a tab is that there may be many sections on a sheet therefore confusing the process as to what goes into a table.
