Recent documents problem

I have set the picklist to 0 and I can’t see any recent documents BUT I presume that LibreOffice holds them open somewhere as I have an encrypted file which I use but now can only be opened as ‘Read Only’, so I cannot amend it.

Does anyone have any idea where the recent files are hidden, so I can close it?

NB I have tried to search the registry with regedit but unfortunately, I have named the file a common word so hundreds of files show up.

Have you checked by opening LibreOffice (the application) directly and looking under Tools → Options → LibreOffice → Paths. You will see many storage locations there for different kinds of data. Check especially for MyDocuments. At a first guess, that is probably where your documents are being stored.

I can’t say for certain, but I doubt very much that LibreOffice “holds them open” somewhere. They are closed and their locations are simply noted.

Quoting @shrub: “…, hence my not wanting to have it open in Recent Documents.”

Have it open? Are you talking of the “large icons” or “thumbnails” or “previews” or whatever showing on the desktop of LibO when opened without a document?

Recent versions won’t generate a preview image for encrypted documents. The filename and the fact of being encrypted are displayed, however.

Thanks for the reply - the encryption programme would only open the rft file as ‘read only’ after decryption, and it did not show up in LibreOffice.
But either by accident or design, the problem has now been resolved

Thanks for the reply, but no luck in the paths.

However, I uninstalled and reinstalled LibreOffice and also resolved a fault in the encryption program and now it works
The file is a list of my passwords etc which I encrypt as an rtf file, hence my not wanting to have it open in Recent Documents.

Happily, whether it was the reinstall or problem with the encryption program, all is now well.

Again, thanks for taking the time to reply.
