Hello,
This function which, after the first numbers or letters entered into a cell completes automatically a previous entry, saves a lot of time BUT there are occasions when it is easier if this function could be stopped.
If it is possible to stop this function on a particular spreadsheet, but keeping it generally, how do I do it?

Hello,
The function you are referring to is AutoInput located on the Tools menu item. You can set this as a toggle with a custom key sequence. This is done from menu Tools-Customize... on the Keyboard tab. You can find more information in the help file → Customize keyboard
