Table Contents Style Showing as wrong Font

LO 6.1.5 x64, Win 7 Pro x64.

In a new Writer document I select Menu > Table > Insert table.

The table is inserted (with a caption which takes the whole of the first page - the table is pushed on to the second page ?!).

Anywhere within the new table I click or tab, the Styles sidebar (and the Style dropdown on the toolbar) show that I am using style Table Contents (which is correct), whose font is defined as Verdana Regular 12pt.

But the table contents (and the Font dropdown on the toolbar) show Liberation Serif.

Why?

Have you tried selecting the whole table and Format>Clear direct formatting? In addition, after that, you can also apply Default Style character style from the styles sidepane.

Thank you @ajlittoz, Format > Clear direct formatting works, and the Table contents style settings are applied.

But why did the newly-created, unmodified table have direct formatting applied?

Who knows? Maybe gremlins invaded your computer …

No gremlins on my PC (well, only me)

Thanks for the help.

When styles seem ineffective, that’s an indication some sort of direct formatting have been applied.

Try first Format>Clear direct formatting.

If styling is still “wrong” vs paragraph style attributes, maybe a character style has overridden paragraph formatting. Select paragraph contents and apply Default Style character style from the styles sidepane.
