Is there a maximum number which a Base field can handle?

In Libre Office Base Version: 6.1.5.2 on Linux Mint 19.1

I am trying to enter the number 4.314086505E+023 (431,408,650,500,000,000,000,000) in a Libre Office Base table numeric field 4.314086505E+023 but it always reverts to something less than what I entered, such as just 4.3. I find it will accept a number such as: 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 which is even larger but when I put 430 at the start of the number when I move on to the next record all goes back to 4.3 with no exponent. Even in scientific format this does not work. I suppose I should be using Calc with these numbers but I am less familiar with it. In calc, I cannot figure out how to rapidly calculate several rows of numbers in one column, (if someone could direct me to to do that should these numbers be too astronomical for base, I would be thankful) whereas in base I can do this in a query.

Hello,

Seems to work on Mint 18.3 with LO 6.2.0.3 With a type of Double:

using format:

Thank you in effect, that does seem to work and the DOUBLE seems to be able to compute with numbers in Calculations.
