I’m trying to set a background image in writer to set up where to type on some recipe cards, just for a spacing guideline. My problem is that I don’t want the image to print with the text as we are putting the blank cards and trying to print out on them directly. Is there a way to set a transparent image without it printing?
How many different images are there? If you only have one, simply insert the image, set your layout, and then delete the image. Is there some reason why you want to keep the image in the document? If you have several images (layouts) then it is more tedious.
Wouldn’t it be easier to set up a table with the cell height/width “hard-set” to the blank card stock dimensions? Remove the borders, and you’ll still have the light-grey cell borders on screen as guides, but they won’t print. Much easier than trying to do this with images, no?
Use Table > Insert > Table... and un-check the “Border” option:
You could even save as a template for future use.
I think they require the image as a a form of “pre-printed stationary” i.e., the image has certain blank areas that they are wanting to print text into. A table will not help with the alignment to image. At least that is my understanding of the question.
@oweng - Hmmm… probably. After I posted this “table” answer, something like your surmise dawned on me. Still, if it was me, I’d see what I could do with a table (merging cells where necessary, etc.) to conform to the required printed area before going with the BG image possibility. Is there a simple way of setting a watermark not to print?
Re. watermark … not that I know of. A watermark is simply a background image.
