Is there a way to finish a paragraph and start a new page without leaving space? (Screenshot available)

Something like this screenshot…

But here I have used the “Hide white space” option.

What I want is to finish each question’s answer with a noticeable line like when we use a Page Break.
With no white space.

If I interpret correctly your question (the screenshot doesn’t really help), what you need is a specific paragraph style for the question and another one for the answer.

Since the answer seems to be “ordinary text”, it can be styled with Text Body, as is intended.

Your question is a paragraph written in bold with maybe a bigger type size than the answer. It should also start on a new page. This can be set in a custom paragraph style.

  • Create a new paragraph style (I leave to you how to do it if you don’t already know; the built-in help is the good starting point) giving it name Question in Organizer tab; in menu Next style, select Text Body so that you automatically switch to the style for the answer
  • Go to the Font tab to set the type face, variant and size
  • Go to Text Flow tab; in Breaks section, check Insert box for Page Before (this is the key for your request)
  • Press OK button

For already types text, put the cursor in a question paragraph and give it style Question.

To type a new question, open a new paragraph and give it style Question. Type you question and hit “return”. Notice your new paragraph is now Text Body, ready to receive the answer.

If your answers are limited to a single paragraph, you can automate further: modify Text Body properties in Organiser tab so that Next Style is set to Question. This way, you alternate automatically between Question (at top of page) and Text Body. Don’t do it if you need more than one paragraph in answers.

To show the community your question has been answered, click the ✓ next to the correct answer, and “upvote” by clicking on the ^ arrow of any helpful answers. These are the mechanisms for communicating the quality of the Q&A on this site. Thanks!

Jesus, it a very long complicated process. Why can’t a user just break the line when he/she want without having white space? That would be cool. A big control. Can I ask this feature to the Libre team or something for the future release? (I just wanted a “Thick White Line” to separate answers. Page break seems nice but it has white space.)

This is not a complicated process. You tune your styles only once. When the page break is integrated int o the style, there is no white space above the paragraph. The question just sits below the top margin.

Now if you want a “thick line” above the question to make it stand out from the preceding one (thus saving paper), you can just add a top border to your Question style in the Borders tab with the required colour and thickness.

You can even make sure the question will always print on the same page as the answer by checking Keep with next paragraph in Text Flow tab.
