It used to be clear on the Save button if a document needed saving/had been saved. In the latest version (6.1.5.2) with its redesigned icons, there’s only a tiny little orange dot in the bottom right corner of the blue Save icon, very difficult to see. Can this be user-modified to make it clearer?
In LO 6.x they have changed the default icon style.
In Menu: Options → General → View → Till down menu “Icon style”
you can change the icons style. “Tango” is much better and it was the default style up to LO 5.x
I very dislike this non sense trend of minimalist GUIs, with these flat and dull icons.
I hope this style selection will be always present, otherwise in future I will be forced to roll back to a previous release…

Oh I hoped to read “I hope this style would always have its active maintainer; or I’d have to jump in and become such a maintainer of my favorite icon set myself” - that would be the attitude!..
I hope there is not only “one maintainer” who can take care about the icons 
LO is intended as a community of developers
Well - yes we are the community - but you would be possibly interested to know that most themes are usually maintained by one maintainer (sometimes that one maintainer attends to several themes); and if that maintainer would decide to retire, there’s no “members of community” standing in line to jump in and continue - we all usually have other things to do. So - it’s some interested member of community (like you) who would need to keep maintaining. If there’s no interested - the icon sets get progressively out-of-date, and eventually we exclude it from the distribution. Colibre and Breeze are currently maintained by Andreas Kainz; Elementary and Karasa Jaga by Rizal Muttaqin.
By the way: developers don’t maintain icon sets. It’s designers who do.
Hi, unfortunately I am not a designer or a developer. If I could do something to improve an open software, I would do it. I see now that in LO 6.2, the icon style Galaxy is no more present. It was nice too. There are only 2 styles left, comfortably for me (Tango and Karasa Jaga).
As my opinion, icons never become properly “outdated”. They are not a decoration, they are functional elements and as first they have to be functional. It means to be quick to recognize, to identify and easy to be found. Thank you for the info. I will try to contact some of the designers. Do you know who maintain Tango?

They do. As software changes, new icons are required; old icons become obsolete; and renames/movements of icons are required - otherwise, increasingly more functions miss icons. So an outdated icon set has many functions of current software uncovered.
Of course new icons are needed for new functions. I talk about the style. A style doesn’t get automatically outdated just because it is old. Small changes and adjustments are ok, but there is no need to make icons flat and indistinguishable. Icons are functionally buttons, not decorations.
You are starting to discuss another topic. You might like or dislike an icon set (and personally I, e.g., like Colibre very much vs. e.g. Tango) - but that’s entirely personal preference thing. We have no notion of “outdated” icon set as per your comment above; an icon set could be removed from a distribution not based on something you called “outdated”, but only on it being unmaintained long enough to become bitrotten.
But making some other icon set as a new default is another thing. However one might like or dislike some style, there are HIGs for different OSes and/or window managers; and some icon sets fit those HIGs better than others. So making Colibre a new default for Windows is an absolutely correct move: it undoubtedly does fit MS HIG better. There’s nothing personal/subjective in this decision. (And discussion if a HIG is good or bad is yet other thing.)
I don’t object to LibreOffice having multiple icon sets. Not a problem. What I object to is the fact that, after I have basically used the same (default) toolbar/icon set for years, one morning I wake up and the icons have mysteriously changed their appearance on their own. I cannot even find the save button. I end up on this page after a google search. Do you know how frustrating that is? Why in the world is this allowed to happen? I did not make this change. I don’t even recognize the menu/screen needed to make it. Distracted, I am forced to waste valuable minutes of my time trying to restore the previous look of my work environment. This type of thing happens far too frequently. I think WAY too much effort is put into customizing LibreOffice and far too little effort is made to maintain an intuitive work environment. There are just too many options in LibreOffice. No average user like myself can understand a fraction of them. They just end up being background noise. My two cents.

Tango was the style I had till a couple of days ago, and yes, I’ve gone back to that, very gratefully. Karasa Jaga is okay, though maybe a bit too colourful – as is Tango, but it’s just so much easier to read than the minimalist Colibre.
