i made the spreadsheet but when I try to save it using the file at top it does not offer a window to title and save
You didn’t say which version of LO you are using so I will just assume that it works like mine. Look near the top-left corner of the window. Try clicking on File. Then click on Save As. Does it work for you?
(Added) Or just use your operating system’s file manager to rename the document, although then you will have to direct LO to the newly-named file.
