Editing on Libre Office (show changes in a large document)

Firstly a plea from me. If I need to be on a specific place on your site to ask a question you need to tell me such. Thanks.

Now to my specific request. At present, whilst editing a manuscript (464 pages) I have two choices on how to expedite this. Either I can choose the ‘show changes’ option and suffer the visual disruption of a change in font colour plus the underscore and underline of all changes that go with it and have them done instantly, or, I can choose not to show the changes and suffer the interminable wait whilst even the smallest of changes takes place (a coma for instance). Yes, I can load sections of the manuscript onto a separate Libre O file, correct them and reload to the original but, apart from this being a messy operation, the changes still have to be pasted onto the original manuscript after that. What I require is a way of having changes that I make done in real-time as with, say, Microsoft Word; is this feature available on Libre O? Thanks.

In version 6.2, the performance problems associated with hiding changes were fixed.

You cannot use LO to edit documents. That is the simple truth. There is no fluid way to track changes while you work through a document - as any editor must do.
This renders LibreOffice virtually useless for anything more than simple very basic tasks and copying.
If you cannot believe this - put any variation or combination of the words text, colour, font, edit, revision, track etc in the Search box above.
You will get no answer which is satisfactory. Not only, no answer that actually works fluidly to assist editing a document

One of the purposes of MASTER DOCUMENTS is to hold large documents in manageable sections. This would certainly be vital in writing documents of 400 pages.

See the help ‘Working with Master Documents and Sub-documents’ to get you started and then look at Chapter 16 of the LibreOffice Writer Guide MASTER DOCUMENTS.

After that learn about Styles in Chapter 8 INTRODUCTION TO STYLES.

I see you asked a previous question on this subject ‘Saving problems and other notes’ a little while ago. You have still not answered the questions we asked at that time to give us further details of your problem. It is important to know whether you are using real .odt files and not saving the documents as .doc or .docx. Also that you are using Styles not manual formatting.
