I live in South Africa, and primarily type and create documents in two languages: English and Afrikaans
There are spell-checkers available, but it is a long and arduous process to choose a language other than english.
Is there a way to easily set a couple languages at the bottom of the screen in the status bar, from which I can easily choose?

How do I change which languages are available by default in this pop-up menu?
I use Paragraph Styles to change languages in text. For example TEXT BODY (which is set to English (UK) and a modified version TEXT BODY-SA set to English (SA). This allows you to switch between the two using the Styles and Formatting Screen. PF11 will display this screen. Selecting APPLIED STYLES means that only the ones in use are shown.
Use TEMPLATES to set your text defaults to enable these paragraph styles. This shows the value of STYLES to control your text simply. I advise you to read the Writer Guide section of styles if you are not familiar with this concept.
If you add the STATUS BAR at the bottom of the screen VIEW > STATUS BAR, the current language chosen will be displayed in the bar and both languages will be available with a right click.
