could not save file. Message "File not found. Check the file name and try again."

I could not save the file in Libre Office any of the applications, in Windows 10.
While creating new file and simply trying to save the document in default file format of Libre Office.

Message comes as below:
“C:\Users\Acer\Desktop\Harada Method\Harada Training\Untitled 1.odt
File not found. Check the file name and try again.”

Please help me to save the file.

Regards.

Manish

I tried to save in C:\users\Acer\ directory and I was successful to save the file.
But when I tried to open the Microsoft Word file and tried to save it by another name, I got the attached message.
It seems that Libre Office does not have rights to save files in the directories which the Microsoft office have.
I am able to save file in C:\user\Acer\ directory but not at Desktop or Documents folders!!!

Which filename are you trying to use on which directory and on which platform (Operating System)? Did you download the file and are you trying to “Save” instead of “Save As” (only “Save As” gives you full control of name and directory)?

Please edit your question to add additional informantion.Do not add a new Answer for that purpose

You updated your question after my comment and did not answer any of my questions or provide substantial, additional information. This way nobody can help you other than what the error messages already tells you: “Check the file name and try again” (I’d add: Check the pathname as well).

And did you check in Windows Explorer the existence of path and the filename. And please use Save As, if you save a new file for the very first time (Untitled 1.odt is a menaingless name). You will get a file save dialog, which allows you to specify the path and filename.

Try to save in C:\Users\Acer\Documents for testing purposes. I do see a “Working on it” in the background of your image, which makes me assume, that in fact the location/path C:\Users\Acer\Desktop\Harada Method\Harada Training\ is not available at all / not available for you (I also see no other files in that directory).

It looks like there is no C:\Users\Acer\Desktop\Harada Method\Harada Training\ - perhaps an old link from “Recently Used” sections. Start from the base diretcory “C:\Users\Acer” and even select the path - you’ll just see existing ones.

Have you read the article in [Solved] File Save Error (View topic) • Apache OpenOffice Community Forum given by @robleyd?
I got no further means to support your Windows permission problems.

@robleyd - Thanks for the link

You’re welcome; it seems to be a common issue with Windows Defender

I am having the same issue on Windows 10.

Has anyone tried the solution provided for LibreOffice

Disabling Windows Defender seems to solve the saving issue for now.

The point is to add the folder you want to save in to the acceptable folder list in Defender.
