Help troubleshooting Data table connection problem

I just installed both the newest standard version of LibreOffice and the newest version of the JDK. Both are out of the box with no changes to the setup of either. When I try to create a table called “Training” in LibreOffice Data it throws an Error 100 and displays the following information:

The connection to the data source “Training” could not be established.

Error code: 1000

The driver class ‘org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver’ could not be loaded. The additional driver class path is ‘vnd.sun.star.expand:$LO_JAVA_DIR/hsqldb.jar vnd.sun.star.expand:$LO_JAVA_DIR/sdbc_hsqldb.jar’.

Any ideas for why this happened and how to fix it?

Which OS and LO-Version do you use?

@Phaedrus2 - It is unfortunate that you ask a question but do not provide information when asked. People here are trying to help but in this case cannot do much without more information. ..newest standard version can mean diferent versions so please be specific such as LO v6.2.2.2 or whatever. It also may be helpful to provide the DB type you are creating (such as Firebird or HSQL embedded).

Also your comment isn’t clear - are you creating a table or Base file called Training? From the error sounds like a Base file & not a table.

@ Ratslinger many questioners do not look at their question, because they can see in the overview no answer (or comment). This is a systemic error in my opinion.

@Hrbrgr @Ratslinger, thank you for your response. I am brand new to LO Data and so did not know what information was needed to guide a responder in fashioning an answer.
I installed LO Version: 5.4.4.2. I chose the default recommendation for the DB type, I believe it is HSQLDG Enbedded. The JDK install is Java 8 Download 211. The software is running on Mac OS Mojave, version 10.14.4.
“Training” is the name of the database. Because I receive the error noted above as soon as I click on either of the links to create a table in the design or wizard modes, I was never given the opportunity to name the proposed table.
I hope this gives you enough information to help me.

Do you have an entry in LibreOffice on “Using a Java Runtime Environment”?
You should look in the menu on Tools>Options where that is because I have no MAC but Windows.

@Hrbrgr, Shows you how little I know about LO and my installation. Yes, you are correct after looking at the message box you included I found out that I have installed jdk-12.jdk.

Hello,

For Mac JDK not JRE is required for Base. Please be certain this is what is installed.

For Mac Tools->Options is LibreOffice > Preferences. Once you go there, insure the settings are made on the Advanced section. See this post for image → I have been trying to create a new database in base but it keeps telling me I have a problem with Java.
