A family member asked me if I Can I make it so that the font size 16 starts by default? He also wants it to never slate the font by having the slate always disabled. I dunno if these things are possible in libreoffice writer but it didn't hurt to ask.

Thanks I figured out how to make font default on my own by playing around. I also found the setting that makes it so it didn't go bond or italic automatically. The thing is he keeps saying my family member he wants it totally disabled and correct me if I'm wrong but that not possible. The best I can do is make it so it didn't automatically go to italic

You can save a template with a default font size of 16.

I don't know what it means to "slate the font". It's not likely that you can disable any of LibreOffice Writer's features, but you might be able to customize a toolbar and remove a button.

To set the default font size:

  1. Open a new, blank document.
  2. From the Format menu select Character....
  3. In the Character dialog, change the font's Size to 16.
Optionally, set a default Font here as well.
  4. From the File menu mouseover Templates and select Save as Template...
  5. Enter a Template Name and select My Templates under the Template Category
  6. Check the box labeled Set as default template and click the Save button.

After this, whenever you create a new Writer document it will have the font size and style you specified.

This will not set a "permanent" default, it is a "direct formatting" set for the first character of the first paragraph. It persists as long as you don't switch to another paragraph style.

You should make your custom settings in paragraph styleDefault Style. Otherwise, styling a paragraph as Default Style will revert to the out-of-the-shelf default of 12 pt.
