Draw opening *any* PDF results in "This PDF file is encrypted and cant be opened."

Hi!

I’m running Ubuntu 19.04 with libreoffice 6.2.3-0ubuntu0.19.04.1~lo1 (from this PPA), and for some reason when I try to open ANY PDF in Draw, including one just created by LO Writer and exported to PDF without a password or encryption, I get a document with only this line of text at the top:

“This PDF file is encrypted and cant be opened.”

Needless to say, this is impossible because as I mentioned I’ve even tried it with fresh-rendered PDFs. I’m sure it must be a missing/broken library or somesuch, but I’m drawing a blank as to which one to look at.

Any ideas? I’d hate to have to roll back to the version shipped with Ubuntu by default…

I see your problem, but if you are using some special repositories you better should turn to the people creating the binaries for that specific repository. I cannot confirm the behavior on Ubuntu-19.04 and the 6.2.3 Version from official Ubuntu repositories (Ubuntu itself delivers 6.2.3 through an apt upgrade)

The PPA I used is, as I understand it, maintained by the LibreOffice team. It’s the “LibreOffice Fresh” PPA. Still, I removed that and installed 6.2.2-0ubuntu2 from out-of-the-box Ubuntu 19.04 repositories, and have the exact same problem, so that’s not it.

I still think it’s an issue with a dependent library not allowing the PDF extraction to succeed.

Bump… any ideas, anyone?

This is still affecting the latest LO (6.4.2-0ubuntu0.19.10.1) on Ubuntu Eoan (19.10, installed from this PPA), and no error messages are logged of any kind. The files are confirmed to not be encrypted, and this used to work in earlier versions of LO.

Please help! Any leads on how to debug this to try to isolate the issue would also be appreciated!

I wish I could help, but have a similar problem. When I try to open a PDF file in Draw, somehow a password is added, which is unknown to me, and which must be entered in order to open the file. Sorry that I can’t be of any help, but maybe this sets some others off to think in a different way about this question ?
