How can I copy page format from one document to another?

Very simply, I need to copy the pager format and transfer it to another document instead of doing it by hand.

I assume you customised the page format with Format>Page. You’re half-way the solution.

The right method to do it is to create a new page format or update an existing one if you don’t need it in its present form.

  • Open the style sidepane (F11)

  • Click on the fourth icon in the toolbar (the one with a page symbol)

  • Right click on a style name and Modify to change it or New to create a new one (don’t forget to give it a relevant name)

To apply the style, double-click on its name.

Save the document. A more elaborate method involves creating a custom template which could even replace the default one so that all your new document are formatting according to your template. But leave it for the time when you master advanced Writer features.

To copy the page format into another document, use again the style sidepane in the destination document. There is a small icon with a + and a down pointing triangle at the right of the toolbar. Click it and Load Styles.

In the dialog which opens, click at least Pages and Overwrite boxes. The latter will force replacement of styles by those of the source document if they have the same name. Push From file button to select the source document.
