@jana : Since the answer to your question probably applies to any software program on your computer, not just LibreOffice, you will probably receive an answer more quickly if you ask the question on a forum for Mojave users. What you are trying to do is controlled by your operating system, not by LibreOffice. Hope this helps.

Unless I misunderstand your question, you just drag and drop the file icons onto the folder icon in the Finder.

But aren’t your chapters already in a single folder? Even if they are on the desktop, they technically reside in a folder which may be named Desktop or the like. Your goal is probably to isolate them from other content already in this folder. It would have been easier to initially create your book folder and then use Save As to store them here.

If you don’t want to move manually the files, you can use file utilities to locate them (there used to be a Sherlock program for that but it likely changed name) and drag and drop the result into the destination folder.

Another solution is to use the terminal and submit a mv (move) or cp (copy) command with wildcards, like mv Desktop/*.odt dest_folder/

Concerning the transmission subquestion, you did not tell if it is a physical transfer or an electronic one. For physical transfer, use an USB stick. For electronic transfer, use attached files to an e-mail or, in case of size limit, upload the files to some service provider and send the URL link with an e-mail.
