How do I limit password attempts to (say) 3?

At present there appears to be no limit to the number of attempts to enter a password. Shut down for 24 hours after 3 attempts would help prevent breakins.

Are you talking of a password used for encryption (“Save with password”)? This option is available for all kinds of documents in LibO. No option of the wanted kind. If any, support by the system would be needed. Hpw should a not opened and not edited file know about the number of tried passwords? If the information was stored internally it would need to be written to an unencrypted preamble.

Or are you talking of a password used for sheet protection (or alike) in Calc only? This kind of protection only aims at avoiding unwanted changes. There is no encryption (except for the password itself) and you can easily remove the protection by file manipulation.

Yes Lupp, I certainly did mean “Save with password”.
