6.1.2 hangs and 6.2.4 says interrupted, fail
You could upgrade to Win 8.1 which does not suffer so much from functionality lags as Win 8. Apart from that take care of what @Hrbrgr linked to. Also you may present more details of the problems you have.
I am 8.1 (sorry for the confusion), and I tried turning off anti virus, still stuck.
What other details would there be?
Similar problem. Install wizard says installing 6.2.4.2 will take a few minutes but the status bar stays at about 10% progress. Have waited over half hour for further progress twice before cancelling.

Tried the troubleshooter…no luck, still as originally stated…
Gave up…back to open office, which installed fine…
