6.1.6 install fails, won't allow re-install

First attempt at install got through the green progress bar completion, which included (based on on-screen status) removal of files. More steps to go, so the bar restarts, gets to about 10% and sits there for Way Too Long. Cancel button and X in upper right have no effect, Task Manager shows zero activity, so killed the installer in Task Manager. Went to Uninstall Programs, old version of LibreOffice isn’t there, tried to remove the old version Built-In Help, got message saying an install is in progress, wait until it’s finished. Started installer again, got a few steps and was told install is already in progress, wait until finished.

So now I have NO version of LibreOffice and can’t install a new one. How to break out of this loop? Should I delete all LibreOffice folders in Program Files?

first - did you reboot?

Sorry for the brain fade, but no - I had not rebooted. Now I’ve done that, and the installer tries again. Since the preliminary stuff had been done (like deleting files) it goes straight to the install, where again the bar goes to about 10% and stays there. It’s been there over an hour now. Last time it did that, the cancel button and upper right X did nothing. Next step?

please check the FAQ. You might try killing wusa.exe while it’s hanging.
