I have loaded an AVI video file. The slide show shows only the first frame as a still, plays audio okay, but won't play pictures. What am I doing wrong?

Using Impress. AVI files show up as a still frame but will not play pictures. Sound plays okay. What am I missing?

Using Impress 6.3 on Windows 10 64 bit.

I too have encountered the same kind of problems with various video files. Some work, others don’t. No obvious reason. My solution was two fold.

1. For presentations, set up a window running VLC, which will play just about everything, with the video paused at the beginning. Run Impress in another window. When getting to the point in the Impress presentation for showing the video - switch windows and start the video in VLC. Both windows can be run full screen.

2. Revert to using MS Powerpoint. (sorry)

Impress needs to be beefed up somehow to have better more reliable handling of media files.

about the point 2, is actually not necessary. I’m using OpenOffice instead of LibreOffice, and I’m now able to reproduce correctly the videos. I would prefer to use LibreOffice, but untill I figure out a solution for that, it’s better than moving to MS Powerpoint.
