In LO Writer how can I hide content for printing only?

I want some of the content in my document to be visible only on the screen but not visible on the printed version. For instance: Printing the document requires some special instructions regarding page setup. I want the appropriate instructions to be visible while viewing on the screen, but not on the printed document. Is that capability available in LO 6.2.4.2?

Have you already considered Insert -> Comment?

Your suggestion prompted me to try it. My only exposure to it up to this point has been in Calc. That will come in handy when critiquing Writer documents. Thanks for the idea.

You can use TextFrame (Insert>Frame) with option Print disabled and Wrap>Wrap Through selected.
What to set additionally to best meet your needs you may find by tests.

Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for. It does the job and is very easy to use.

You may also format the instruction paragraph as Hidden with a specific paragraph style (see Font Effects tab).

The hidden paragraphs will be visible on screen if View>Formatting Marks is enabled. Don’t worry about other formatting marks, they don’t print.

Note that having View>Formatting Marks always enabled allows to see what’s going on with invisible controls such as tabs, new lines and paragraph marks. It allows you to avoid many pitfalls and formatting errors.

Thank you, I appreciate the suggestion but the formatting marks although informative are distracting. I may, however, find this useful in the future. I tried clicking on the up arrow as suggested but simply get a dialog “>5 points required to vote”.

They’re distracting because that’s new for you. I find it an invaluable tool to have the doc under control.
