Dear Sirs,
As usual, really appreciate your efforts and hard work. Thank you is just not enough.
I am not a programmer, (but a dedicated user since v1.5), recently upgraded to v4.0.4, and would like to give you feed back that may help you on the next version 4.1. Particularly Calc.
I have a number of spreadsheets, which are interconnected either through ddlinks or vlookup or hlookup.
I have found that v4.1 seems to not be able to handle the following correctly:
-
Data validity - looking up values in other files. losses the connections or sets them as if they are in the file they are currently in, (i.e. a circular reference).
-
Linking to other files, the paths seems to get confused, particularly if the name has spaces. It adds the standard %20 but that looks like it complicates.
-
Copying from other files and pasting as link seems to recalculate after every keyboard key stroke.
-
Conditional formatting, once the range is set, and a sort is performed the range gets very complex. Where the original range should have remained.
-
Because of the links in my files, (using other calc files as databases), I use DropBox. Calc seems to have issues with this as some files became corrupt.
-
Going back to 3.6.6 seems to have resolve the issues I have experienced.
-
Trying to resolve some of these issues, after restart & recovery, and after being asked if I want to update the links and clicking “NO”, it seems to try to update the links anyway.
-
It also seems that importing my old sheets / files into v4, they are not quite compatible. However, when the sheet is originally created in V4, things seem to work better, except for conditional formatting and data validity.
-
When working with two sheets/ files open… data validity cant seem to handle this.
As I said, not a programmer, so I can only speak about what seems to happen.
Hope this information is helpful. Should you need any further information I will be happy to help.
Best Regards,
Sérgio
