How do I set up macOS Mojave so LibreOffice automatically opens all MS office files when selected

in Finder

  • Right cklick on a MS Office file (e.g. .xls)
  • Select Open With
  • Select Other...
  • From the List select “LibreOffice.app” – and important
  • Tick option Always Open With

But may be, if you are still using MS Office, next update of MS Office rolls back the setting according to first commandment of MS decalogue that you shall not worship other than MS software.
