Save As in Calc and Writer causes the system to stop responding [closed]

Windows 8, LO 4.0.4.2 on a network without a domain controller - homegroup type of network When I start a new Writer or Calc file and try to save it the first time the Save As box starts to come up and then hangs. I have left it for 10 minutes and it still does not respond. I have to try to close the Save As box at which time LO closes. If I shutoff the network then reboot, then start up the network it SOMETIMES, will save once, then no more.

This did not happen with earlier versions of LO. I have looked on the Win 8 website but no help there Can anybody give me any guidance?
This may not be just an LO problem but Win 8. I have uninstalled and re-installed LO with no change in results. Toshiba notebook with i7 processor, 8GB of memory and 1 TB hard drive. win 8 with latest updates.

Any help would be appreciated.

@Les - if you don't get a solution within about 24 h, I recommend to file a bug report under

and post the bug number here.


You can also have a look at

to see if there is already a similar report which could include possible countermeasures.
