full-width background image in template

Hi
I’m trying to make a page template with a full-width image that fills the top and bottom of the page. I have followed the instructions in this page Changing Page Backgrounds - LibreOffice Help but the problems start in step 6 - I don’t have a “Background” tab - though I do have an “Area” tab but there’s no way in there to make the image full-width, outside of the content margins - it just sits within the margins.
What am I doing wrong ?
Thanks

According to erroneous documentation see #tdf96496

The “background” tab is renamed into “area” tab; both had the same limitation (the background only applies inside margins); and that latter limitation is fixed in tdf#33041 for LibreOffice 6.3.

oh right, I still had LO version 5 point something. So I’m downloading the latest one and will check that out.
Thanks !

But possibly the whole-page background is still not implemented in background image case: see tdf#122508 (not tested myself). - Now tested, and it only covers the whole page in tiled mode.

Also note that 6.3 is not officially released yet; it’s in release candidate stage, to be released in August.

Yes it seems you’re right
Is it possible to format a full-width header and footer with background images ?

Is it possible to format a full-width header and footer with background images ?

I suppose that currently it’s only possible in to-be-released 6.3, using one background image with top and bottom parts filled, and central part empty (white?), making it a tiled image with the image size equal to page format.

I just installed 6.3 and it does indeed cover the whole page if you set the background to custom with a fixed size that matches the page. There is one strange behaviour, though : if you change the margins the background image moves too!
I haven’t yet tried setting the margins and THEN adding the background image - but I will
